We have been overwhelmed and felt so loved with people asking,” How can we help?”
Through a lot of prayer, guidance and accepting that people do want to help us, we are humbly asking for your help overcoming the financial hurdle of adoption. Our journey to Baby C has been filled with a lot of heartbreak, waiting and longing along the way, but the Lord has met us at every point. Now, here we are again completely and faithfully trusting him to deliver in a big way!
Fear of finances and what people would think of us when we started fundraising almost stopped us from pursuing adoption all together. The day we decided to send in our application, this quote came across my newsfeed.
“God Never Gives You A Dream That Matches Your Budget. He’s Not Checking Your Bank Account, He’s Checking Your Faith.”
There is nothing more humbling, vulnerable and uncomfortable than asking people for money. The expense may be big but we believe our God is so much bigger!
We are home study approved and able to present our profiles to expectant birth moms. We have already started seeing situations and really could be matched anytime! The total expense for our adoption will be between $40,000-$50,000. Your support and donations will help us Bring Home Baby C and make us a family!
Seven years ago when we started praying for a baby, all we thought we needed to start saving and preparing for was the ten little fingers and toes that would come in about nine months. What we weren’t ready for was hitting the roadblock of infertility followed by years of failed treatments. What we also weren’t prepared for was how expensive finding out you can’t have a baby is, then having three surgeries to fix the suspected problems and lastly the final blow of how expensive 3 failed IVF cycles has been. Even with the medical diagnosis that Kris and I have, insurance has not covered our unique journey to a family.
The expenses we have endured have been big and looming but we didn’t let that stop us. We worked harder; took on side jobs and second jobs. We worked our summers away the last five years and got creative moving things around to come up with what we needed at each roadblock along the way. Although our pride was not hurt because we “figured it out” and didn’t have to ask for help, the reality is that we exhausted resources and are now needing help with the huge amount of upfront funds needed for the adoption of our baby.
All of you have surrounded us and been the village God knew we needed the past seven years. Now, we (Baby C) need you more than ever!
It will take our village and more to see this happen. We’d love for you to do three things:
1. Ask the Lord what HE would have you give? Every dollar matters!
2. Share this page on social media and with your village of friends. The best way you can get behind our story is to share it with someone else.
3. Please continue to pray for us, our baby + his or her birth mother, father and family. This process is so complex and affects more people than just us.
To donate, you can access our fundraising page here: www.youcaring.com/babychisholm
We cannot begin to describe how much we appreciate your prayers, donations, love and encouragement. Thank you will never be enough. We plan to make a beautiful book with photos and names of everyone who rallies together to help bring our beautiful baby home. We want to read all of your names often, pray for and support you in the future. We also want our child to be able to scroll through their book and see how loved he or she is by all of you.
As you walk this journey with us, please don’t hesitate to ask questions and be involved. We will be open as much as we can be and will gladly accept help with fundraisers!
Our infertility and this adoption is really God’s story and although he may have specifically called us to action with adoption, we believe he calls all of his people to be involved in adoption in some form. Donating to us is one way you can help adopt one of God’s beloved children.
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
